Bachelor in Science - Chemistry

About the course

B.Sc. chemistry is a three-year degree programme based on Choice Based Credit System (CBCS). In CBCS system, the students have an option to choose courses from the prescribed courses comprising core, elective or skill based courses. The curriculum of B.Sc. chemistry is based on UGC recommended syllabus offering Generic electives, Skill enhancement courses,  Discipline centric courses in addition to core courses.

Objective of the program

  • The structure of BSc Chemistry programme offers a strong interdisciplinary base in Chemical, Biological, Physical and Mathematical Sciences to prepare students  to apply technological solutions in the area of modern industrial applications.

  • This program prepares the students with an analytical mindset for employment opportunities in industry as well as for research programmes.

Program Outcomes

  • Students will gain and apply knowledge of scientific concepts such as   Polymer chemistry, Green chemistry, Industrial chemistry, Nano Sciences, Biochemistry and Drugs & dyes  to understand and solve problems related to the field of chemistry.

  • Students will be able to design, perform experiments, analyze and interpret data for investigating complex problems in chemistry and related fields.

  • Students will be able to design and develop sustainable solutions to major environmental problems by applying appropriate scientific tools.

  • ​Students will be able to demonstrate learning skills to work as a team in a multidisciplinary environment.​

  • Students will be able to demonstrate effective writing and oral communication skills.

  • Students will have knowledge and understanding of norms and ethics in the field of chemistry.


Admission Criteria

(A) No. of Seats:

  • B.Sc ( Chemistry): 60 Seats

(B) Qualifying Exam

10 + 2 (Science) or Equivalent

(C) Mode of Admission

Merit Based

(D) Eligibility for Admission:

  • Candidate must have passed 12th or equivalent (Science Stream) Examination from a recognized Board securing a minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate in these subjects (40% for SC/ST/OBC non-creamy layer/PD/EBC).

  • Applicants with 12th or equivalent from international schools affiliated to foreign boards like IGCSE(International General Certificate for Secondary Education)and IB (International Baccalaureate) can apply, they have to submit equivalence certificate of Association of Indian Universities, New Delhi.

(E) Registration Fee:

The registration fee for submitting online application form is Rs. 500/- (Rupees Five Hundred Only), which is to be paid online

(F) Selection Process:

  • Direct admission for 55% and above at qualifying exam. No need to appear for test. In case, applications of students securing 55% and above at HSC are more than the seats available, merit list would be put up based on HSC marks obtained in the aggregate.​

  • For students below 55% HSC marks, merit list based on online test and HSC %. Merit List would be prepared based on % marks at HSC and Online test; 60:40. (60% weightage of HSC marks and 40% weightage of Online test)

  • Online test comprising MCQ based on Gen aptitude, Numerical skills & English. Sample papers will be available on our website.
