Dr. Vivek Ranade Back

The presence of Dr Vivek V Ranade—an award-winning chemical engineer with a doctorate from the University of Bombay (UDCT)—isexpected to bolster the university’s research activities.

Since 2010, Dr Ranade has been leading research at the National Chemical Laboratory. He has previously worked in the capacity of a consultant with leading multinational and Indian industries. He was also guest researcher at Twente University of Technology and Delft University of Technology, both in the Netherlands, and a research associate at Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Zurich, Switzerland.

Dr Ranade’s areas of interest include chemical reactor engineering, process intensification and multiphase flows with phase change, computational modelling of gas-liquid reactors, modelling of turbulent reactive mixing, and industrial flow modelling process development and intensification.

Dr Ranade’s many achievements include the CHEMTECH CEW Outstanding Achievement Award (R&D–Individual Excellence) in 2013, the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize in Engineering Sciences in 2004, and the DST Swarnajayanti Fellowship in 1999.
